Default Moorcock

i know people have mentioned Elric here before, but i wanted to find out what people thought about Michael Moorcock and his work.

i have read most of his books and i really enjoyed every single one.
anyone have any favorites?

elric is prob my fave but i like all of the eternal champs; corum, hawkmoon, erekose, elric.
hawkmoon 2nd fave.

some of the more obscure and shorter stories are good too, fireclown, black corridor, dancers at the end of time.

does anybody know any news about the elric movie? universal bought the rights years ago but it never got any further than the screenplay as far as i know.

if you like moorcock and can recomend some similar/good science fantasy please post it!

I've only read the Elric books, and some of his essays, so gonna have to say Elric by default.

Elric is an evil bastard. An evil bastard pumped full of drugs and constantly murdering people with only a tenuous grip on his own will. He's great.

Yeah! He's appeared on stage with them and read some of his stuff...brill.
Just re-read the Runestaff series 40 years on. The jewel in the skull, The mad God's Amulet, The sword of the Dawn and the Runestaff. Excellent stuff, still fresh and a very easy going read.

didn't he write some parody SF/fantasy featuring a rock band under a pseudonym? i'm sure i've heard that mentioned along with the hawkwind connection.

its great to see so many people on here have read a moorcock book at some point.

and yeah its very easygoing, might lack detail sometimes but i think it makes up for it with creativity. how you can pack so much into 150 odd pages il never know.

the history of the runestaff ones were the first i read. i read it so much the spine fell off so i had to buy it again from gollancz.
is yours the green canvas hardback? or are yours seperate?

can anyone recomend some fantasy i might like? read most of Gemmels before someone suggests it.
thanks

Mine is one collected paperback volume in "Fantasy Masterworks" edition. I've also got the Elric series to read sometime soon. Wouldn't mind hardbacks for the booksheves though
